Yesterday night, I watched one of my favourite movies, Seven Years in Tibet.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Years_in_Tibet_(1997_film)
There is one great thought which reveals the difference of our western world and eastern philosophy. It says that western people are valued by all that they achieved and fought with, valued by their materialistic possession, while tibetans strive to deny the ego assuming that if you want to be a good person you should not have any possession.

Wow, what a film is that? Maybe we should add it to the philosophical dramas that appear from time to time in American cinema.

This is a true movie that leaves the spectator thinking about his own life and his conformism. "Edmond" follows this guy and what he says is so crazy but consistent in his own terms that makes you wonder about a lot of things.

A powerful international production on the serious sex traffic problem.

The CIA estimates that between 50,000 and 100,000 girls, boys and women are trafficked annually into the United States to be pimped out or sold for forced sex.

Worldwide more that 1 million people are trafficked across international borders against their will.

I've seen this one a couple of times before; however it's a very good movie and it's worth to be mentioned here. I watched it on tv yesterday and here it is. It's Spike Jonze's Being John Malkovich. A fun and smart film. There is one thing which is not well-known, it could be a rumour though; however they say that it was thought that REM's vocalist Michael Stipe and film's producer was supposed to play Malkovich in the film.

Recently I was recommended to watch a film-biography of one great 20th Century politicians. I was lucky to catch the Director's Cut. For those interested in India's and other ex-colonies recent history I recommend:

Gandhi (1982)

Biography of Mahatma Gandhi, the lawyer who became the famed leader of the Indian revolts against the British through his philosophy of non-violent protest.

PS: The film is in IMDB's top 250

Another movie that came around and tells the story of one famous 20th Century politician.

John Fitzgerald "Jack" Kennedy (May 29, 1917 – November 22, 1963), often referred to by his initials JFK, was the thirty-fifth President of the United States, serving from 1961 until his assassination in 1963.

The movie is about what happened after the alleged and quick closing of the assassination case. The story is 60s style and is the main character is well acted by Kevin Costner.

12 jurors must decide the fate of a Chechen teenager charged with murdering his stepfather.

A movie by Nikita Mikhalkov - Russian "Spielberg"

Nominated for Oscar.

I think this movie has lot's of value in it - yes there are some elements of "propaganda" and "hollywoodism" if you start looking for, but there is much more "Russian Soul" and worldly wisdom :!:

I watched "Aquel querido mês de Agosto" (http://www.ficv.cl/f15/index.php?option ... Itemid=293)
I have never before watched a Portuguese movie and it was very interesting for me to see this movie. It was a nice story about love, ordinary every-day life and father-daughter relationship together with nice music and songs during all the film...

A drama centered on retired professional wrestler Randy "The Ram" Robinson as he makes his way through the independent circuit, trying to get back in the game for one final showdown with his former rival.

The new film by Darren Aronofsky, another good movie with lots of meaning in an extraordinary story.

2) The Good Shepherd (2006)
The tumultuous early history of the Central Intelligence Agency is viewed through the prism of one man's life.

Тhe best spy movie ever.

A great spy story from the middle of 20th Century presented by some of the greatest actors of our time.

Jésus de Montréal (1989)

A group of actors put on an unorthodox, but acclaimed Passion Play which incites the opposition of the Catholic Church while the actors' lives themselves begin to mirror the Passion itself.

Nominated for Oscar. Another 17 wins & 7 nominations

Maybe it's strange but I watched it on the night of Christmas. There is what to think on after such a movie..
