So time basically flows as an arrow in one direction over the timeline – PAST -> PRESENT -> FUTURE
In cinema a movie screenplay can be organized basically in two ways:
linearly – when we go from beginning trough middle to end of the story and we never know what the ending might be since it reveals gradually in time
or
non-linearly – imagine the viewer is traveling over a spiral in time and he/she perceives notions of the movie’s beginning, middle and end the whole time but in pieces – at the beginning he might be given a clue what is happening at the middle and what might the possible end of the film be… that is non-linear perception.
And now imagine our perception of time and the life we live is very similar to a film screenplay
We can say that at some specific moments we "move over" a spiral and perceive time non-linearly – meaning we have a notion of what might possibly be the future like..
This effect might explain some of the phenomena of ESP like precognition, retrocognition and synchronocity.
PS: I thank for the notion to the movie "The Early Years: Erik Nietzsche Part 1" with Lars von Trier as a writer
